The Dark Side of the Plastic

The creation of plastic is a double-edged sword. It brings us convenience, but it also brings us damage to the environment. It takes 450 years for a plastic bag to decompose. We have to stop using plastic bags in our daily lives! For example, bringing our own reusable shopping bags when we buy groceries would reduce the amount of plastic that is generated and ultimately winds up in our oceans and landfills.

I’m surprised that people don’t realize how harmful that plastic is to the environment. Furthermore, the governments are starting to legislate laws to stop the plastic pollution. For example, Taiwan has been banning the free distribution of lightweight plastic bags since 2003. But that’s not enough. We still need more regulation toward big companies. We have to be the part solution, not the pollution!!!
