GLOBAL WARMING
Many people claim that global warming, or climate change, is a natural process. However, the reality is that over the last 100 years or so, human activities have released so many different greenhouse gases that are trapping heat in the atmosphere. The Earth's climate has changed many times during the planet's history, with events ranging from ice ages to long periods of warmth. What’s different about this period of the earth’s history today is that human activities are significantly contributing to climate change through our emissions of greenhouse gases. There is no sign of cooling down and it is time for us to be aware and officially take action.
This picture shows the level of heat increase in just 60 years...

Carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases, is at an all-time high!
Fast&Fun Facts
1) The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has increased by more than 30% since the pre-industrial times.
2) Weather extremes like heavy rains and floods are results of global warming.
3) Average temperatures have climbed about 1 degrees Celsius around the world since 1880.
4) Glaciers are melting rapidly. For example, Montana's Glacier National Park only has 27 glaciers now, compared to 150 in 1910.
5) Coral reefs are heavily affected by global warming and there were 70% bleach rates in some areas of the world.
6)About 75% of greenhouse gases are released as a result of human activities, mostly from burning fossil fuels.
7)A separate budget of US$ 40 million has been allocated for climate change research since 1990.
8) Over the next 20 years, global temperature is expected to increase by 0.2 degrees every 10 years...
Reflection
From this project, the 3 of us noticed the degree of seriousness that our world is actually facing. Not only are social issues like poverty, racism, and inequality prevalent, but environmental issues like Global Warming that can actually affect the existence of human race are extremely critical. In order to lessen or decelerate the rate at which it is happening, everyone has to first understand the roots of the problems and start taking small steps to make a difference.
