The Importance of Biodiversity

First of all, what is biodiversity? Why is it important to our environment? Well, biodiversity simply means the enormous diversity of plant and animal species and different ecosystems on the planet. From what I researched, there are almost ten million species of plants, animals and microorganisms on the planet and deserts, rain-forests and coral reefs are also part of a biologically diverse earth.
We humans must maintain biodiversity in order to keep our planet in balance. It matters if there aren’t so many species because biodiversity helps ecosystem productivity to grow rapidly and healthily. Each species, no matter how small or subtle it is, it all has an important role for its environment. A large number of plant species in the oceans are important food for fish so without plant species, many species will go extinct. It also maintains natural sustainability for all different kinds of species in the ocean. Humans should start doing something to protect these species. Human activities has been causing massive extinctions as well as global warming. Global warming is actually one of the most influential factor of biodiversity and massive extinctions.
Preserving species is not only important for other species in the ecosystem but it also cease global warming which also help human to live longer. In my conclusion, human has an important role of protecting the only earth, our only home.
