LOVE IS IN THE AIR

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

To humans, the most crucial thing we need in order to survive is oxygen, the air we breath. Can you live a day without food? Can you live a day without water? Can you live a day without air? I hope not, because it is just impossible. In this world, there are tons and tons of global issues; things we cause, and things we need to solve. One question I always have is which one is the vital one. Is it Human rights? Is it Feminism? Once I made up my mind, I know that what we need to save first are the trees, because if we don’t, then we cannot live. I think we should all work together into solving one problem; otherwise, nothing will be solved.

In each year, a forest as big as Panama are being torn down. In each year, a tree as old as all your ancestors ages added up are being cut, and burned, and made so that you could use it once and throw it away carelessly. And in the next 25 years, 28,000 species might be gone, some of which you have never seen before. Forests are like our lungs; they absorb carbon and release oxygen which is the most abundant compound for lives. It is plain - trees are important, we destroy trees, trees are what we need save, and trees are the ones that save our life.

Common Causes of Deforestation

  1. Land for housing and urbanization
  2. Harvesting timber for paper and tissue
  3. Plantations for cash crops
  4. Land use for ranching

Interesting Video

Solving deforestation is really easy. One is to stop cutting down trees, two is to plant trees, and three is to “JUST DO IT.” Forests are like lungs of our world, and by constantly destroying them are like destroying ourselves.  We all have power,  If only the power of our two hands and two feet are use to build rather than destroy and used for caring rather than destroying. I really want to know what our world would be like in the future where greed is less important to us than good.

Fifty Shades of Blue

Fifty Shade of Blue

What is the most important thing in you life? I’ll tell ya, it is not your girl friend, not your boyfriend, or even your family and friend, or even the erotic movie “ Fifty Shade of Gray”. Lacking these things will not kill you! Repeat, lacking these will not kill you. The things that are fundamental to life and will kill you if you don’t have them are: oxygen you breath in every single second, water you drink every single day, and food you eat every single day. As my heading foreshadow, I will be discussing water in this blog.

  • There are 7 billions people in the world, but 1 billion don’t have access to clean water.
  • 1 out of 7 people do not have clean water to drink from.
  • 1 burger = 6 gallons of water.
  • 70% of water sources are for agriculture.
  • Each day there are 4500 kid, who died because of water related disease.
  • Water related disease have killed more people than any war.

People think of water as limitless, but the dark truth is that it is not. We are using water like it will never run out. What we need to think is that there is only 3 percent of the world’s water is freshwater which we need to share with 7 billion more people who live on the same earth. One perfect way we could do to save water is by consuming less meat. As you know, most water is wasted for raising animals and agricultural use. Change from a burgers to salads, and you would save more than 5 gallons of water, and get much healthier in the process. Humans have brains to think, so think.

#CameronMustGo

Jerod and William

Blog Post:
Recently, UK’s politics have been hectic. In the wake of the Scottish Independence Referendum (though the final vote was a “No”.), Prime Minister David Cameron is facing a huge crisis. I mean, think about it: Scotland, a part of the United Kingdom since 1706 by the Act of Union, is about to break away from the United Kingdom. And Cameron is the Prime Minister during this crisis. Of course people are going to talk about him. Though Cameron still hangs on due to the “No” vote from the Scottish Referendum, his position is still very precarious.

For those of you who are not familiar with United Kingdom’s politics, the government is called a parliamentary system. Unlike a lot of countries where the head of state can only reign for a set period of time, the British Prime Minister can hold office indefinitely until he or she dies, or is ousted by a Vote of No Confidence. This means that a Prime Minister can be taken down by the parliament if the parliament deems him or her incompetent. And so, British Prime Ministers have to be extra careful of their actions, since a Vote of No Confidence could happen at any time. That is exactly what Cameron is risking at the moment. One senior official in the Conservative party (the party in power, which is Cameron’s party) stated explicitly that if Scotland broke away from the United Kingdom, Cameron may face a Vote of No Confidence.

However, as we all know, the referendum resulted in Scotland remaining in the United Kingdom, and Cameron’s place still hangs on a thread. This does not mean, though, that Cameron is safe. There has been a recent trend that has been picked up on Twitter. It is called #CameronMustGo, and many people, including several celebrities have spoken up against Cameron, stating reasons why he “must go”. I do not think the trend will be going on much longer than a month, and things will die down once the fad ends, but there is still a risk for Cameron. If this trend starts getting out of hand, he may face a Vote of No Confidence. Right now, it is still too early to say how things will turn out, but I will say one thing: Cameron has to be careful of his actions, for right now, he is in a precarious situation.
