Landing a space probe on the comet costs a total of about 1.4 billion Euros. In our opinion, we don’t support this decision, because with that much money, we can help poor people who are in need. Money that the European Space Agency spent on the spacecraft is far less important for humanity than attempting to find organic molecules on a comet. In what way would this benefit humanity when billions are hungry and lack adequate drinking water.
To me, this is a very irresponsible way to spend money in a world where almost 1 billion people are starving and undernourished. The cost of landing a space probe on a comet is the same cost needed to buy 4 Airbus A380 aircrafts, the largest commercial aircraft in the world. With the Airbus, we could distribute supplies and aid needy countries and to people who are impoverished or are lack access to food or clean drinking water. We could also spend the money on food and vaccinations in countries like Africa where millions are dying of diseases like HIV.
I agree with Jaewoo's opinion that the European space agent should use the money to save the poor people. Nowadays our world have been surrounded with poverty and famine, we should find a way to fix this problem rather than spending massive amount of money on spacecrafts. I know space exploration is very important and useful for our future, but we should focus on what is happening on our earth first. We should help those poor people first.
