Overfishing

To begin with, for those of you who don’t know anything about overfishing, it is taking or killing too much of the wildlife from the ocean. Some types of fish that we eat might soon go extinct. Nowadays, humans use huge engines that allow ships to drag the net through the ocean. This behavior will not only harm the fish, but will also destroy the coral reefs in the ocean. Thus, if humans still continue their behavior, the system of the marine life would collapse.

Overfishing has been happening for centuries. The amount of fish that were caught by using nets exceeds the amount that we can consume. Around 3 tons of little fish are caught in the net but thrown away. That is a waste of marine life. Moreover, many marine creatures such as whales, sharks, Bluefin tuna, king mackerel, dolphins and marlin are disappearing or have already disappeared. It took us around 55 years to wipe out 90% of marine predators! 55 years! This is very heartbreaking. Don’t you think that we have to take action? We have to protect these marine creatures for the next generation. By knowing all of these facts, why don’t we raise awareness through the mass media, so that we can gain more contribution to save the marine ecosystem.
